Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was the daughter of actors Melissa D. Canaday (New York City) and Edward James Hyland (New York City). She started her career in the field at 4 when she began doing voice overs as well as commercial work. Private Parts was her first film. After that, she starred in The Object of My Affection (1998) and then spent time on Another World (1964) as "Rain Wolfe" who was a child that was found in the park and fostered by Josie and Gary. Sarah would later collaborate with Amy Carlson ("Josie" on AW) many more times: Falcone (2000), Law & Order (1990) and Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was selected as one of the young "Audrey Hepburns" in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) in the same year that she was also cast in the role of "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999) starring Kathy Bates, Audra McDonald, Alan Cumming, Victor Garber and Kristin Chenoweth. Also, Joe Gould's Secret (2000) and Falcone (2000). Alongside her film and television work, Sarah studied voice, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and tap Theatre Dance, and performed with her tap and Theater dance classes at "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A born and raised in New York, Sarah spent much of her time working in the fields of television, film, and also voicing numerous radio ads and also traveling with her father, Edward James Hyland, as he worked in many theaters across the nation. She was home schooled by her mom until 2nd grade. She then attended Public School. In the 6th grade she was accepted to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) which she attended until her graduation in 2008. When Sarah was 18 then she moved to Los Angeles, CA and, within two weeks, she had been able to land a plane named "My American Family". The pilot's name was later changed to Modern Family (2009, after Sarah was picked). Sarah currently portrays Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) has been awarded numerous times, including the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
