ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 , to Pamela Morgan and Michael Morgan. Morgan and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was a multisport athlete throughout her youth, but she was only introduced to soccer at 14. Then she became a member of the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and finishing in third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to develop her soccer skills while at Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked her as an All-American Athlete. She was also a participant of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer in UC Berkeley. UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring in her first season. She helped bring the team to the NCAA Tournament all four years and made it into the second round twice. Morgan became one of four finalist candidates for the Honda Sports Award and the first player from her school to make the list of Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan graduated from Berkeley in the first semester of 2010, and was ranked 3rd among the top scorers of all time in goals, points and assists. Morgan was able to maintain soccer careers at the national and college levels during her studies. In her first year with the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that prevented her from playing with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. She scored her first international goal in Mexico during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Her team won gold and she scored her first international goal during the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship in Mexico. One of them was a victory goal against Italy that secured the U.S. team a final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player in the team and was the one to lead it to victory against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player and helped them win against Japan.
