Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer of Irish heritage was a well-known celebrity. Her fiery, passionate character she played in various American films was what attracted attention to the beautiful green eyed beauty. Her glamour and beauty were awe-inspiring. Her name was also known as the 'Queen Of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her onscreen characters reflected her strong, brave spirit who was fighting to be recognized and a part of this male-dominated world. She always called herself the "tough Irish lass" who would never compromise with her honor and status to land the roles she wanted through merit. She was a vocal advocate for women on television and in films, and gained many followers because of it. Her autobiography, 'Tis Herself', published in 2004 provided an honest and unfiltered story of her entire life's experiences, including the struggles while climbing the ladder of success. She was an adventurous woman who wasn't afraid of performing her own stunts. She appeared as an actress in more than 60 films over the years and was a pillar of fame internationally. Moving on from Parra, she remarried again in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier and chief pilot and a pioneer of transatlantic aviationto mention just a few of her accomplishments. After a few years of the couple's marriage, O'Hara made the decision to finally take a break from her career. Blair however, died in a fatal plane crash in the year 1978. O'Hara's happiness was short-lived. In the same year she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and required surgery immediately. She was eventually cured. She was diagnosed with six heart attacks, short-term memories loss as well as diabetes type 2 over the next years. On October 24, 2015 O'Hara died peacefully at Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
