Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi was conceived in Chennai, India on September 1st 1970. Lakshmi was divorced by her parents at the age of two years old. Her mother emigrated to America to escape Indian stigma. Lakshmi resided in Chennai with her maternal grandparents for two years before she moved to the United States. Her parents divorced, and she has a younger brother and sister. Lakshmi is the descendant of Hindu goddess of prosperity and wealth She grew up in New York City and Los Angeles. She returned to India for a few months every year to visit family. Padma Lakshmi discovered acting was something she enjoyed in 1999. The first movie she appeared in was "Figlio di Sandokan" which was a film about an Italian pirate. Then she was cast in "Caraibi" (Pirates Blood Brothers), which is a drama about 17th-century pirates. In Italy the show received the highest ratings, and she hosted 'Domenica In'. In 2001, her character was a comedian supporting a disco artist in  the film 'Glitter. 'Glitter is an American film. Padma is married to Adam Dell, a venture capitalist, and has a daughter named Krishna Thea Lakshmi Dell. Krishna was born on the 20th of February 2010. She also dated Teddy Forstmann (ex-chairman, CEO of IMG). Lakshmi is currently dating American venture capitalist Adam Dell and the pair share a daughter, Krishna. Lakshmi later revealed that the baby's father was Dell, although she initially kept the identity of Dell a secret. "Everything is more enjoyable when she's around," she said of her daughter. "Anything that occurs between the beginning of the day until the close of the day. I don't really have any attention span for anything else than her.
